Client
One of the leading e-learning platforms for schools in the United States that chose Buffer Group as a long-term partner. The main idea of this platform is to help children develop according to their skills and abilities.
Challenge
Top Navigation Bar is the most used part of the website, it must be accessible. This is an important element of a website's design since it allows users to quickly visit any section within the site. If you've ever visited a website without a Top Navigation Bar, you may have found it is difficult to locate the page you need. You may have also had to click "Back" several times in order to find a link to the next section you wanted to visit. The customer wishes to make Top Navigation Bar completely accessible within A/AA level on condition most WCAG criteria are passed.
Solution
The project followed the Agile methodology. Closely cooperating with the Customer, Buffer Group’s testing team successfully addressed all of the challenges above. We tested the Top Navigation Bar panel that consists of 14 elements such as links, drop-down lists, open side menu buttons, search field.
Tools
- JAWS screen reader, VoiceOver screen reader, CCA (Color contrast analyzer tool).
Results
The testing team linked all the bugs to test cases and tasks, which made it easier to identify an issue and explore the interconnection between the introduced application features. The testing team developed test cases based on issues reported by users, proposed improvements and change requests to address the application functionality, which helped deliver solutions faster. We found out some accessibility issues like:
- Different screen readers issues
- The focus of the elements issues
- Keyboard accessibility issues
