We are seeking a forward-thinking and hands-on DevOps Engineer to define and lead a cloud-first infrastructure strategy. This is a greenfield opportunity to build modern, scalable, and secure cloud environments from the ground up. You will design and implement CI/CD pipelines, automate infrastructure, and drive best practices for cloud operations. The primary working time zone is Eastern Time (ET), and candidates should be able to maintain at least half-day overlap with the team’s 9am–5pm ET schedule.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with software developers to streamline workflows, troubleshoot issues, and ensure applications are production-ready in the cloud.
- Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to automate application build, test, and deployment processes.
- Define and enforce cloud security best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to make environments reproducible, consistent, and auditable.
- Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure with a focus on security, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Integrate comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure reliability and performance.
- Mentor developers and promote DevOps best practices, championing automation and a culture of continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Proven experience designing and operating modern cloud infrastructure from scratch (AWS, Azure, or GCP preferred).
- Hands-on expertise with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Strong background in CI/CD tooling, including Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
- Solid containerization and orchestration experience with Docker and Kubernetes (or similar platforms such as ECS or GKE).
- Proficient in scripting and automation using languages like Python or Bash.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK Stack.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking, security best practices, and operational excellence.
- Experience managing relational and/or NoSQL databases in a cloud environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical decisions and guide team members.
Skill Set
- Cloud & Infrastructure: Deep knowledge of one or more major cloud providers, with hands-on experience implementing scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions.
- Automation & CI/CD: Skilled at building robust pipelines and automating repetitive operational tasks.
- Containerization & Orchestration: Expertise in Docker and Kubernetes, including deployment, scaling, and monitoring.
- Scripting & Tooling: Strong coding skills for automation, troubleshooting, and system integration.
- Monitoring & Reliability: Experience implementing observability practices to maintain system health and performance.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Ability to mentor team members, drive adoption of DevOps principles, and communicate technical strategy effectively.
